Taking A Break<Taking A Break  I am having trouble posting things from my tablet so cut me some slack.  I seem to have a built  in break system.  When I need a break my body just shuts down

and    I wind up in

the hospital.

A Better Place

A Better Place

Sometimes I think Homer and Estelle have a little trouble communicating.  I am not sure it is as much having hearing problems as it is having listening problems.

Creative History

I can honestly say that I have never doctored a resume’ for myself.  Of course, I have never actually given anyone a resume’ to get a job.  I have filled out applications, I have had job interviews and I have had people stop me and on my current job and offer me jobs.  Resume’s were not a common thing back in my younger days.  I do imagine that there are a lot of people who really dress up their resume’s and I have actually helped a few young people describe their work duties in a creative manor without telling a lie.

Here are  a few examples:

Educational Logistics – School Bus Driver

Environmental Beautification with State Institution-  Picked up trash on the side of the highway while on a prison work release program.

These are just a couple and I could think of dozens more but I would rather have dozens of comments  so give it a go in the comment section…remember this is a G rated comic so keep it extra clean.

Mess Destruction

Mess Destruction

As I am posting this it is Halloween night and I was thinking about how different things were when I was a kid.  Back then it was all about the candy.  We didn’t care diddly squat about costumes and pranks and all that stuff.  We wanted free candy because we didn’t get candy whenever we wanted it.  Candy was a rare treat.  Our parents didn’t keep us from eating candy for health reasons either…candy cost money, money we didn’t usually have.

We didn’t have a large selection of toys either.  Mostly we had two choices when it came to playing, either the front yard or back yard.  If it was raining we played on the porch.  If we got to play inside it was because there was a blizzard or something and that is very rare in Mississippi.  I can remember on Halloween that I ate candy I didn’t even like…simply because it was candy and that was a rare thing.

Now if you will excuse me I have to make another round in the neighborhood.  I am going as the comic strip character Bo Lumpkin.  I heard the neighbor down the street was giving away  full sized Hershey bars and I have to get there before they run out.

Blue Flue? Hospital Humor

Feelin Blue

They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.  I guess that can be true in a hospital too.  Okay, I know they can’t always be jewels but I did post a comic…even if it was late.  Hopefully I will have an update and some pictures on the I’ve Been Thinkin’ site tomorrow at http://bolumpkin.wordpress.com

Matter Of Opinion- Edna and Mildred

Matter of Opinion- Edna and Mildred

Sometimes it is hard to be open minded without your brains falling out.  I consider myself a very tolerant person but I do try to weigh the facts, check results, and refrain from accepting something just because the majority thinks it.  At one time the majority of the world believed that the world was flat.  I can’t personally say that it is a sphere because I have never been around the whole thing.  I do know that it is not flat because even in the Mississippi Delta which is very flat there is a horizon.  As you move toward it, it moves too.

I gave that little science lesson to explain my way of reasoning things.  Some things sound good, they sound right, they are popular but they just ain’t so.  Political correctness is a product of the flat earth thinking people.  Political correctness says that we should be tolerant of every culture and we will not tolerate any culture that is not tolerant of every culture.  One of these days maybe all these empty headed folks will start walking to reach the horizon.  By the time they get back the rest of us will be long gone.

They Are Back

They're Back

I think our attitudes about government are shaped primarily by whether they are supporting us or we are supporting them.  If they are supporting us, Government is too small and should do more.  If we are supporting it, Government is too big and should cut back.

Edna and Mildred Shutdown

Government Shutdown

I knew that things were gettin’ bad but when Mildred and Edna are both speechless on the same day  it is kind of scary.  (It at least made for an easy comic for me.)

Hospital Humor- It Can Get Worse

October 10, 2013

It Will Be Worse

Now that the “Affordable Health Care Act” has gone into effect most of the people that I have talked to who tried to get it are having trouble getting on line.  Those that have got online have found that they can’t afford the “Affordable Health Care” that is available to them.

Over the years I have spent a large portion of my income on insurance and hospital bills.  I really hope that the government never gets to the point where they decide who is worthy of getting treatment.  I am afraid the cost of my upkeep would cause them to just write me off.  I only have about another year and a half left on the battery on my pacemaker-defibrillator  and the cost of replacement is about $60,000.  I am afraid a committee of bureaucrats would decide to just let my batteries run out…after all if they don’t think the government is worth keeping open why would they want to keep me running.

Y’all have a great weekend and I will post again Monday,
