Dental Problems- Homer and Estelle

September 3, 2013

Bad Teeth

This could possibly happen to a Geezer couple I suppose.  Thankfully it wasn’t inspired by a real life event for me like some of my comics are.

Oil Crisis- Hank The Handy Man

Oil Crisis

Buster kind of makes you think doesn’t he?  Hank and Buster will be back next week.  I have been enjoying working with them since I dug them out of the archives.

I will be with my friends at the Attala County Farmers Market in Kosciusko, MS in the morning hoping to sell come Copperhead Jewelry.  There are a couple of FFA students that volunteer at the market to help out and I have enjoyed visiting with them and getting to know them.  They have been giving me some great ideas for jewelry that might appeal to the students at their school.  I love working with young people.

Whenever you hear people talking about the younger generation just remember that there are a lot of very impressive young people out there.

Yall have a nice weekend.

Geezerhood- Makin’ Decisions

August 28, 2013

My Decisions

I think I am beginning to identify with this old girl.  I had a perfect blueprint in my mind about posting the comics in my buffer in a certain order… I sure wish I could remember what it was.

Actually I am not sure if all that is important.  It seems like even though I pick up some new subscribers by email to my comic  that the actual hits on my website vary anywhere from 20 to 40 visits per day.  I read where many others have hundreds of hits per day and I wonder what I am doing wrong.  Just to set the record straight, I am not having a pity party.  I tried social media but that didn’t work very well.  I have given out free advertising and free comics to be downloaded from Redmund Pro free bookstore at http://redmundpro.com/book-store/free-books/ and nothing I do seems to increase my traffic.

I have come to a point to where I don’t worry too much about traffic.  I still have a few faithful commenters to interact with and I do enjoy that.

If you have any tips on why I can’t build traffic I would appreciate them.  I intend to keep up the comics regardless of the traffic because when I tell people at my Copperhead Jewelry shows that I am a cartoonist I don’t want to be lying.

Thanks to all my loyal supporters and I hope you all have a great day.

Planning the Future- Homer and Estelle

August 26, 2013

PLANNING THE FUTURE

I sort of have the feeling that Estelle is planning on Homer going first.  I really want to thank Jande Rowe for drawing these two.  They seem to have a personality of their own and it is not hard to find dialog for them.

You can see more of Jande’s work on her website featuring her graphic novel Aedre’s Firefly at http://www.e-orbits.com/ .

Planning for the future is a good thing but I have found that by the time I put my future plans into place it is already the past instead of the future…or something like that.  My full buffer that I had a couple of weeks ago is beginning to dwindle but I still have enough stuff for a couple of weeks and I am sure I will find a day or two to be productive in the next couple of weeks.  Today is my 63rd birthday and I will be celebrating it by mowing the grass, taking my wife for a check-up in Jackson and then swinging back by Yazoo City to fill prescriptions for the coming month.  I will work half a day tomorrow and then my wife and I are off to Oxford, MS to visit kinfolks.

I had a surprise birthday party at church yesterday and my kids were there and my sisters from Oxford all came down to help me celebrate and we had lunch and a big cake at the Church.  It was the best birthday celebration ever and it was a day early.  My theory is to start partying early and keep it going as long as possible.

Yall have a great week.

Geezer’s Gone Bad 2

Geezers Gone Bad 2

If you listen to the politicians and the media you would think that education is the answer to all of the problems we have today.  Education is great but sometimes it doesn’t hurt just to have some good moral convictions.  I have known educated lowlife’s and I have known men and women with no education who were outstanding citizens.  There are some things you just don’t learn in school.

Last Laugh- Hospital Humor

Last Laugh

One of the best remarks I have ever heard of on a tombstone was “See, I told you I was sick.”

I usually have a KRUD-TV on Wednesday but I didn’t have one for today.  I will try to catch up on them this week.  I am trying to keep my buffer stocked and still produce good comics.

I have some ideas in my head and just have to take time to put them into the computer.  Well, you are halfway through the week and we are quickly using up August.  Make sure you try to get all the good you can out of the rest of both of them.

Geezers Gone Bad

Geezers Gone Bad

The MDOC on the orange jump suit stands for Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Sometimes because a kid comes from a family with a bad reputation everyone just assumes that he is no good too.  I think one of the saddest things anyone ever said to me was by a student when I was a substitute teacher.  He said, “You are the only teacher I have ever had who treated me like I was really somebody.”   Someone in the teachers lounge was talking bad about this boy and I unloaded on everyone in there.”  I am not sure how much good it did but I felt that they needed to hear what I had to say.

I have a soft spot in my heart for young people and I really believe that how they are treated when they are young has a lot to do with how they end up when they are older.

Now if you will excuse me I have to put away my soap box.

Don’t forget to check the http://bolumpkin.wordpress.com page today.

Time Management

A Good Time To Go

Looks like Homer finally got one in on Estelle.

I have been blessed in the in-law department.  I have always been close to my wife’s family and I have three great brother-in-laws that are married to my sisters.

Homer and Estelle should be back next week.  I still love the artwork Jande Rowe did for me and if you haven’t visited her and her graphic novel “Aedre’s Firefly” go take a look at http://www.e-orbits.com/

Come back tomorrow for another Geezerhood comic.  You can also check out my blog tomorrow at http://bolumpkin.wordpress.com

Mixed Memories

August 5, 2013

THINGS WERE NOT WHAT YOU REMEMBER

I really like these two Geezers and I have decided to name them Homer and Estelle.  You will be seeing them a few times in the next month.  I really appreciate Jande Rowe for sending these to me.  She is an amazing artist and writer and the creator of “Aedre’s Firefly”.

She post each Wednesday and you should check it out. http://www.e-orbits.com/

I will be posting on this site Monday through Friday for the next few weeks.  I will still be posting some blogs and some things on the site at http://bolumpkin.wordpress.com on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I had hoped to have a weekend blog this weekend but I got really busy and didn’t have time.  Don’t forget to come back here tomorrow for some Hospital Humor.  KRUD-TV will be here Wednesday, The Ladies will be here Thursday and we will hear from Mildred Friday.

Wow!  It’s gonna be a fun week.

You Said What?

You Said What

Be careful of what you say.  It can come back to bite you…even years later.  I’m glad that at least no one can see what we are thinking.  I’m afraid most of us would be in trouble.

I posted some pictures of the jewelry displays I made this weekend at http://bolumpkin.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/new-displays/
