Geezers Keeping in Touch

September 26, 2013

In Touch

Ooops!  Somehow I miscued and posted two comics yesterday and didn’t have anything ready to post for today.  I have an excuse, I have been busy on Facebook, keeping in touch with my kids, my family and setting up a Copperhead Jewelry page.

Now I have one less comic to post for next week which means  I need to do a couple of comics. These things don’t write themselves you know…well sometimes they kinda do but I still have to put the words on the page.

Geezerhood- Makin’ Decisions

My Decisions

I think I am beginning to identify with this old girl.  I had a perfect blueprint in my mind about posting the comics in my buffer in a certain order… I sure wish I could remember what it was.

Actually I am not sure if all that is important.  It seems like even though I pick up some new subscribers by email to my comic  that the actual hits on my website vary anywhere from 20 to 40 visits per day.  I read where many others have hundreds of hits per day and I wonder what I am doing wrong.  Just to set the record straight, I am not having a pity party.  I tried social media but that didn’t work very well.  I have given out free advertising and free comics to be downloaded from Redmund Pro free bookstore at and nothing I do seems to increase my traffic.

I have come to a point to where I don’t worry too much about traffic.  I still have a few faithful commenters to interact with and I do enjoy that.

If you have any tips on why I can’t build traffic I would appreciate them.  I intend to keep up the comics regardless of the traffic because when I tell people at my Copperhead Jewelry shows that I am a cartoonist I don’t want to be lying.

Thanks to all my loyal supporters and I hope you all have a great day.

Dry Run In The Garden- Burt and Kurt

Dry Run on Garden

Since I have been selling my jewelry at the Farmers Market I have come to know the people there and how much they depend on the weather.  Thankfully we haven’t had drought conditions here and they have had pretty good crops.  I really respect them and what they do.  Just like my jewelry making, they do it because they like to do it.  They certainly aren’t getting rich from their labors.  Sometimes I think I would probably go down there even if I wasn’t selling anything.  I enjoy the visits we have each week.

Mildred Is A Happy Camper!!!

Mildred Is A Happy Camper

I guess it is possible for even the most negative people to have a good day…especially if Twinkies are involved.  I haven’t eaten Twinkies for years but as a young man my standard breakfast was pack of Twinkies and a box of chocolate milk.  Now chocolate milk comes in plastic bottles instead of wax coated boxes.  There are some great desserts that can be made from Twinkies and one will show up at a Church potluck dinner every once in a while.  I’m not big on sweets but I’ll admit I have a hard time resisting the Twinkie desserts.

Don’t forget to check out my Gatorhead postcards at this week.

No Call List- Mildred in the Morning

June 17, 2013

I had a pretty good weekend.   I did a lot of comic work, sold some jewelry, enjoyed Fathers Day.  I hope to do some more comics and make some jewelry this week.  I also need to make some Cedar Crosses and Copper Crosses… I am running very low on those.  I completed putting together my Hank the Handy Man mini comic on the computer and I hope to be able to print a few copies this week to sell next weekend.  I have been passing lots of copies of the Café Comics out and seem to be getting some response even if I never get any feedback.

I guess the main thing is that life is good at Gatorhead.  I hope it is the same for yall.

A new KRUD-TV comic will be posted Wednesday.

Regrets- Mildred In The Mornng

June 14, 2013

I thought I ought to throw a Mildred in the mix.  She was feelin’ a little left out lately.  There will be more KRUD-TV comin’ up next week but I don’t want to completely abandon my old characters.

I would appreciate you keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.  I felt pretty bad the first couple of days of the week but started feelin’ a little better yesterday.  My family wanted me to go to the ER but since they have already told me there isn’t much they can do for me I decided against it.  I’m feelin’ much better today so I think I made the right call. (I am writing this on Thursday.)  Sometimes I forget just what a bad shape my heart is in but it has a way of remindin’ me.  I was going to cut my grass today but I have decided it is too hot so I will just load my snake gun in case they overtake the place in the tall grass.

I have been workin’ on comics most of the week since I haven’t felt like doin’ much else.  If I don’t feel well I still try to stay busy because I seem to feel worse if I just sit around.  Before the comments start comin’ and you start naggin’ I do plan to go to the doctor if I start to feel worse again.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I plan to be at the Attala County Farmers Market in the morning selling jewelry and I am looking forward to it.

Electrifying News from KRUD-TV

Shocking News

You can see more of Steve Ganshert’s great play on words at his blog- Rambler

It has been a busy week.  I spent one night with my wife, daughter and grandson at Lake Tiak O’Khata near Louisville, Mississippi.  My grandson was determined to do some fishing.  A large thunderstorm with lots of lighting sent us in right after we got to the cabin and we thought the wind just might blow the cabin into the lake.  The wind died down, the thunder and lightning stopped and my determined grandson fished until 10 PM in the rain without catching anything.  That is what I call determination.  We didn’t do so well with the fish but we had  great time.  I made some jewelry Friday night and I set up at the Farmer’s Market and sold a little Jewelry Saturday morning.

I just uploaded my devotionals for the week at and now I am finally getting around to uploading this weeks blogs and comics.  I have all the ones for this site and will be coloring the Hank The Handy Man remakes later tonight for the other site .  I appreciate each of you who stop by and especially those who hit the like button or leave a comment. Thanks so much for your support.

Low Life Dreams

Low Life Dreams

I had a good long blog written but my computer ate it.  Basically what I had to say is that Wally wants to be a real go getter.  He wants a wife he can take to work and go get her when she gets off.  Men like Wally don’t stay married long but they get married more often to make up for it.   The thing that puzzles me is the number of women out there who have their own worthless Wallys.

Gatorhead Comics with ADs

February 14, 2013

Cafe Comic In Progress

This is the next to the last draft of the Gatorhead Comic Sheet with ads.  I think I have included all the ads that were sent to me.  If you sent me an ad and it isn’t included please remind me or send it again and I will include it in a later issue or a later reprint of this on.  If you have an ad (or not) and would like to print some of these flyers out and hand out to friends or even people you don’t really like, feel free to do so.  If your ad is included it might be to your benefit to share some copies.

I will be printing a hundred of these in color this weekend and probably will pass them out in places where they will receive multiple views.  I will then print another hundred to hand out during Craft Shows and Jewelry sales next month.  If you see any errors or anything that should be changed please let me know.  I do want this to be a good reflection on the advertisers. I have one more ad to paste on the page but it is a local ad and I have to do some scanning and adjusting on it.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Project Comic Ads – Update

January 29, 2013

Cafe Comic In Progress

Here is an updated version of the project I have been working on to pass out at Craft and Jewelry shows.  I have a lot more ideas to say about the whole concept but I haven’t had time to write it all down.  At the present time this looks like the format that I will be using.  Input and suggestions welcome.
