I’m still in the Hospital (my wife is scared to take me home, I think.) My regular cardiologist came by today and was a little positive about me going home in a couple of days. Basically there is nothing more they can do but he says if I am careful I can hang on for a while. He mentioned that I looked good and seemed to be bouncing back from the last heart attack real well.
I was walking in the hall (as instructed) and a nurse that I didn’t know commented “What are you doing in here? You sure don’t look sick”. I laugh, I joke, I smile and I am friendly therefore I must not be sick.
My wife knows me better than anyone and she is still not convinced that I am ready to go home. I have had a couple of weak spells today and she wants me to be here where they can take care of me. (She has not left my side since Saturday night.) Actually she has been by my side for more than 41 years.
I guess being positive and not looking sick can sometimes be a problem. When I tell people about my heart trouble they look at me in disbelief and say you don’t look sick. All I can say is “Thank You”. I really don’t want to look sick.
I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers and good wishes. You can not imagine how much that means to me. I am not giving up and I’m not giving in…I still plan on hangin’ around as long as I can because my wife has told me that I don’t have her permission to go on yet. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife and wonderful family (my kids are bringin’ Thanksgivin’ Dinner to the Hospital tomorrow and we will have our family gatherin’ here.
Who knows. This time next week I might be home drawin’ comics and makin’ jewelry.

It’s great to see that you still have your humor and have such a positive attitude. We’re all rooting for you, and thinking of you. Your wife’s probably right, even though it’s a pain to be in the hospital over the holidays, it’s best that you’re as healthy as can be before going home.
You’re a real class act, Bo, and and inspiration, too. Now get better, and get home, and start making more comics!

I’m so glad to hear you are keeping your sense of humor through all of this…laughter is the best medicine. And Bo, you have given me many laughs since I’ve know you…You mean a lot to me and many of us that visit you on both of your blog spaces. Please get well soon.

Thanks Deb. I appreciate all my friends and I hope I have at least brought some smiles and encouragement to some. Whether I am here or gone on to be with Him I will be blessed. I am in a win win situation and I plan to make the best of it.

Today it will probably just be my Son and daughter and their kids and spouses but I’m thinkin’ about half the hospital staff wants to come and join the celebration. That’s okay. We treat everyone like family every day so we can surely do it on Thanksgiving.

I hear that doctors are generally a pretty wise bunch, but I think you’re right, Bo… I’m sure your wife knows you best, and it sounds like a very good idea to be as safe as possible about this.
I hope you were able to have as pleasant a Thanksgiving as possible (considering the circumstances)… I’m sure it helped a lot that your family was able to stop over and celebrate with you… that can make nearly any situation better, I think.

I decided early in my life that my main goal was to make my wife the happiest woman in the world. I probably have not succeeded in that but it has certainly made me a happy man.

I’ve already called in sick. I don’t think that anyone wants their Glamorous Waitress coughing and sneezing in their Salmon with Lemon Chive Cream sauce. Plus, I don’t want to leave my sick wife with my sick child all night plus two more non-sick children who will probably bug her to play Life and Scrabble and read books all evening. No, I think I would like to stay married.
