Plain Speakin’

Whether I’m listenin’ to someone speak or readin’ somethin’ I really appreciate it when folks put things in the simplest terms possible.  I realize that people have gone to a lot of trouble learnin’ big words and technical terms and want to impress us all with their huge mental capacities but hey…If I don’t understand a word you are sayin’ then there is not much use in me listenin’ or readin’.

I reckon I will try to keep my stuff plain and leave the profound for those with more formal education than me.

Old Age Advisory

I guess I have reached old age.  My kids have started givin’ me advice and sometimes even tellin’ me what to do, especially since my last heart attack. I guess some geezers probably resent it but when mine start advisin’ me…they are usually just repeatin’ things I told them when they were younger.  “Be careful.”  “You need to be especially careful when you are drivin’.”  “If something comes up that you can’t handle, you call me.”

Both my son and my daughter are always just a phone call away if I need them.  We get fussed at when we forget our cell phone and they can’t get in touch with us for a couple of hours.  They always want to know where we are, just like we did when they were growin’ up.

I guess I could be upset about these young whippersnappers tryin’ to tell me what to do.  I’m not though.  I am proud that my children have grown up to be the fine responsible adults that they are, and they still care about their parents.

Gatorhead Comics with ADs

This is the next to the last draft of the Gatorhead Comic Sheet with ads.  I think I have included all the ads that were sent to me.  If you sent me an ad and it isn’t included please remind me or send it again and I will include it in a later issue or a later reprint of this on.  If you have an ad (or not) and would like to print some of these flyers out and hand out to friends or even people you don’t really like, feel free to do so.  If your ad is included it might be to your benefit to share some copies.

I will be printing a hundred of these in color this weekend and probably will pass them out in places where they will receive multiple views.  I will then print another hundred to hand out during Craft Shows and Jewelry sales next month.  If you see any errors or anything that should be changed please let me know.  I do want this to be a good reflection on the advertisers. I have one more ad to paste on the page but it is a local ad and I have to do some scanning and adjusting on it.

Project Comic Ads – Update

Here is an updated version of the project I have been working on to pass out at Craft and Jewelry shows.  I have a lot more ideas to say about the whole concept but I haven’t had time to write it all down.  At the present time this looks like the format that I will be using.  Input and suggestions welcome.

Project In Progress

For some time now I have been thinkin’ about a project to promote my comics besides the hit and miss methods on the internet.  I make jewelry and sell it at Craft Shows and other markets and usually there is some pretty good traffic.  I have about 1000 comics or more in my files and they are just laying there.  I decided to print out a couple of pages on legal size paper… I found a relatively cheap source of printer ink.  This is one of my first prototypes and will need some tweeking.  I plan to possibly sell some advertising (cheap ) just to cover my cost and failing this I plan to see if other people with comics would like me to print a link to their site.  Even if I have to give away the comics and the advertising it is still a great way to have something to give away and possibly promote my website.  People are actually more apt to buy my jewelry when they find out that I am also a cartoonist.

As I said I am in the planning stages at the present time and have to do a lot of tweaking and I plan to blog more in depth on this idea later.

I didn’t have a new comic to post today because I have been working on this project as well as experimenting with several new programs which I hope will improve the quality of my artwork.

I’m Bo Lumpkin and that is what I’ve been thinkin’ about.

How Much Government Do You Want?

It seems like people want something different out of Government.  What we have to understand is that “We The People” are the government.  Mostly what the working middle class man wants from government is a cheaper form of it.  Most of my life I spent the first 3 to 4 months of each year just making enough to pay my taxes and it took me another two weeks at least to do the paperwork so that I could be sure I was sending them the right amount.

I’m not on a political soap box.  It is just that we have to understand that things from the government are not free.  Someone has to pay for them.

A.G.A.C. or Ain’t Got A Clue

I think education is a wonderful thing.  I am still pursuing mine (though not formally). There is more than one kind of education and many hardworking people who know how to do things add much more to society than a lot of the PHD’s who contribute nothing but talk.

New Lumpkin Family Member

Meet Molly.  She is the newest member of the Lumpkin family.   She became a family member yesterday and she has already stolen our hearts.  She is a 6 week old Chocolate Miniature Dachshund.  I don’t think she really knows that she has hit the jackpot because I am certain that she will be treated like royalty.  I am sure you will be seeing more of her.
