Pondering The Important

February 20, 2013

Pondering The Important

Sometimes we can get caught up in life and make it a whole lot more complex than it really has to be.  I consider myself one of the richest men in the world.  I have a decent place to live.  I eat way too much.  I have two automobiles and both are runnin’ at this time.  I have two great kids, 3 grandkids the  best wife in the world and Molly (the super energized weiner dog).  If I had to settle up financially tonight I would still have some of my stuff left because what I have is worth more than I owe.  My health might be a little sub par but so far I have woke up every day for over 62 years.  I don’t even have to wonder if there is a possum at the crossroads because I’ve got stuff in the freezer.  Yep, all in all, I reckon Bill Gates and Donald Trump ain’t got it much better than I have it.

Gatorhead Comics with ADs

February 14, 2013

Cafe Comic In Progress

This is the next to the last draft of the Gatorhead Comic Sheet with ads.  I think I have included all the ads that were sent to me.  If you sent me an ad and it isn’t included please remind me or send it again and I will include it in a later issue or a later reprint of this on.  If you have an ad (or not) and would like to print some of these flyers out and hand out to friends or even people you don’t really like, feel free to do so.  If your ad is included it might be to your benefit to share some copies.

I will be printing a hundred of these in color this weekend and probably will pass them out in places where they will receive multiple views.  I will then print another hundred to hand out during Craft Shows and Jewelry sales next month.  If you see any errors or anything that should be changed please let me know.  I do want this to be a good reflection on the advertisers. I have one more ad to paste on the page but it is a local ad and I have to do some scanning and adjusting on it.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Cute Buzzard

January 16, 2013

buzzard-for-Bo

A week or two ago I posted a comic of Chester and Phil and Chester was complainin’ that other comic strip characters were cute.  I tried a few looks to make chester look cute but so far none of them seem to be workin’ for him.  Jeremy Burkes from JB’S TOONS http://jbstoons.wordpress.com sent me a drawing of Chester in overalls.  That kind of fits with the Gatorhead theme.  Be sure and check out Jeremy’s comic.

This week I received this great picture form the talented Jande Rowe, creator of “Aedre’s Firefly”, http://www.e-orbits.com and a great encourager on the web. I am not sure if it is what I would call cute but it is definitely a fantastic piece of artwork.  I hope you love it as much as I do.

Be sure and check out the websites of my friends.  I am sure you will be glad you did.

I posted over 858 times on my old Blogspot site at http://bolumpkin.blogspot.com  If you want to go back and look things over on a slow day the site is still up but I haven’t been adding anything new.

Bo

P.S  Just for those of you who keep up with that sort of thing this is my 500th post on this website.  I also post at http://bolumpkin.wordpress.com

A.G.A.C. or Ain’t Got A Clue

Agac 1

I think education is a wonderful thing.  I am still pursuing mine (though not formally). There is more than one kind of education and many hardworking people who know how to do things add much more to society than a lot of the PHD’s who contribute nothing but talk.

More Comics Comin’

January 8, 2013

I had planned to post a new Creatures of Habit comic today but didn’t get around to it. I will have it posted for tomorrow.
Actually last night I sat down and made jewelry for the first time. I have been a little reluctant to make any because I am still not sure if I will be able to do the Farmer’s Markets and craft shows later on. Since my daughter will probably be working some of them I decided to go ahead work on some. I will post some of it on my other site after I get a little more made. I am going to continue with new comics and I have some new stuff in the works.
Thanks
Bo.

Lookin Good ..or Not

Lookin' Good- Or Not

I think Chester has kind of missed the boat on tryin’ to look cute.  I’m sure he will try to come up with something else.

Creatures of Habit -Occupy the Internet

Occupy the Internet

It looks like Chester might start a movement after all.  Just food for thought for you artist out there.  How would you depict a buzzard to make him look cute.  If you want to give it a try I will post your efforts with a link to your site.    I hope you all have a Happy New Year and try to get all the good you can out of 2013.  I know I am going too!  BTW  If you want to send me a cute buzzard just email it  to bolumpkin@gmail.com.

There’s No Place Like Home

November 24, 2012

As I sit here on the couch at Gatorhead with my wife and Rocky I’ll have to say that I agree with Dorothy.  There is no place like home.

I had my 14th heart cath in the last 25 years Monday after having another heart attack last week.  I’m not really sure how many that makes.  I had 3 different cardiologists look at the results of the heart cath and the vote was 2-1 that I could live for awhile longer.  I hope the majority rules in this case.  I also have congestive heart failure and obviously that was a problem because I lost 19 pounds while I was in the hospital and I figure most of that was fluid.

The prognosis was better than I feared.  I can do what I want to do (within reason) but I am supposed to stop as soon as I get tired.  I am not having any pain but I am still very short of breath and it doesn’t take much to exert me.  I have snapped back so many times that it is a little disturbing to realize that I might not get a whole lot better than I am now.

I am just takin’ it easy for a few days and testin’ the waters a little under the close supervision of my wife and kids…and Rocky.

I just want to say that I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and friendship I have been shown by everyone. My friends and family have always been there for me but it really meant something special for the internet community to be so supportive of me at this time.

I want to give a special thanks to Bearman of  www.beartoons.com for his encouragement and support.  While he is not alone and so many of you have encouraged me, he is a special friend and I have seen him there for his friends before.  Thanks Bearman.

I hope to reach out and support and promote those who have supported me so much even more in the  future.  Right now I am still very weak and even posting takes a lot of energy.

Again Thanks to everyone.

Another Look At Homecoming

October 17, 2012

Yesterday my grandson Hunter dressed as Larry the Cable Guy for Homecoming week at his school.  Today he went as  what he is, a Hunter.   When he was 4 he used to say he wanted to be a “freshional” (professional) hunter when he grew up.  He has already killed several good deer, including a 14 point buck when he was 9 years old and last year he killed his first wild hog.  I guess he just might make it.

I know some of you might be against hunting and I no longer have the heart for it myself but we always eat what we kill.  It is not just for sport.  Down here it is a very common way of life.

I like his  ability to become whatever character he wants to.  He might just decide that he has a better career for him in show business.

Resharin’ The Creatures

October 5, 2012

I guess things could be better for everyone at during these tough economic times but just remember they could be worse too.

I did a little bloggin’ this mornin’ on my old www.bolumpkin.com site.  Check it out and see what I had to say.  I forgot so I can’t wait to go read it myself.
