I have seen a couple of articles and stories on the news about caffeine and how it might be beneficial in some ways.  If that is the case Mildred ought to live to be a hundred.  My doctor once told me that I should limit my caffeine and I asked him why.  He said, “It causes your heart to beat faster.”  I told him that mine needed all the help it could get so I would just keep drinkin’ my coffee.  He smiled and shook his head and said, “You know, you just might have a point.”

I have been busy going over some old comics because I am going to print a black and white comic book to sell along with my jewelry.  I am hoping to improve some of them and I might re-run some Hank The Handy Man comics on one of my sites.  I had real big plans for upgrading some old artwork but I left my pen for my Bamboo tablet and won’t have it until this weekend.  It is hard drawing with a mouse when you are used to a digital tablet.

Sometimes I get to feelin’ bad about bein’ old and then I think about the alternative.  Actually bein a geezer is not too shabby.  I’m enjoyin’ most of it in spite of the aches and pains.  I reckon I would have taken better care of myself when I was younger if I had known I was going to live this long.

Back in November when I had my last heart attack the doctor told my family that I was in bad shape and might have 3 days, 3 weeks, or as much as 3 months to live.  I have already doubled the three months and I actually feel better now than I did even before the last attack.  For a while I kind of believed him but I feel optimistic enough that I have have started a few long range projects and I intend to finish them.

Mildred has a point.  I really used to enjoy Facebook and the comments that family and friends made but now by the time I wade through the same posts that I have read a dozen times before and people keep reposting it just doesn’t seem worth it.  I have often wondered why they won’t repost my comics and my sayings.  Maybe if I decided to quit tryin’ to be moderately original (there are no new original thoughts) and would just start stealin’ other people’s stuff and postin’ it under my name they would re-post it.  Maybe this blog is so stupid that it will go viral.  You can certainly help by sharing it with all the people you know and even those who you have never heard of.  If someone will post this on Google+ and I get 10,000 likes I will then do a Bo Lumpkin video of Tiny Tim’s famous hit “Tiptoe Through The Tulips” (at least the one stanza that I can remember).  If you share it on Facebook and I get 5,000 likes I will make a new Bo Lumpkin video of a subject to be determined later.

I have found as I run in to old friends from several decades ago that as we talk over the things that happened thy really get better each time.  They don’t seem to remember all the details that I remember and I certainly don’t remember all the details that they share with me.  Even with my kids it amazes me at how different our accounts of events are from when they were young.

Creative memory is not really such a bad thing though.  It really spices up the conversation.

Sometimes progress brings us changes that we just don’t want to have to deal with.

I think costing Bearman money is some progress we can all get in on.

I definitely love comics.  I love drawing comics, I love reading comics but most of all I think the biggest thrill is appearing in comics.  Several of my fellow comic creators have honored me by using me as a character in their comics at one time or another.  My Good friend Michael Phelps, creator of the ”Life On 66″ comic uses me as a re-appearing character in his strip.  Recently I received a surprise gift in the mail.  It was Michael’s new book “The Whole Shebang”, a collection of the first couple of years of his webcomic. Not only did Michael autograph it and draw my picture on the inside but he gave me “shout out” with a link to my site inside the pages of the book.  Even though I have read all the comics before I have still enjoyed reading them again.  Thanks Michael for all the good comics, thanks for the book, thanks for using me as a character, and thanks for putting a link to my site in your book.  Most of all thanks for giving an old redneck something to smile about.

While I don’t think most politicians are actually takin’ bribes I do think they are greatly influenced by lobbyists and the perks and contributions they receive from them.  As far as I’m concerned there is not a lot of difference.

I have been doing some Mildred solos lately.  Hope you enjoy them.  I will probably do more with Edna and Mildred but I just feel like Mildred can stand alone…probably against a whole army.  Again I want to apologize for not being around on the internet and leaving comments much the last couple of weeks.  I have been extremely busy getting my jewelry and copper work ready for the Summer selling season.  (Also catching up on some much needed yard work etc.)  I have been feeling better the last couple of weeks than I have in months.  I might just snap back after all.  That’s what us tough old Geezers do.
