One of my favorite bumper stickers of all time was on an expensive lookin’ motor home. It said, “We Are Spending Our Children’s Inheritance”. With the National Debt what it is and the fiscal cliff being scarier than a physical cliff I reckon that most of us in the USA are spending our children’s future. I don’t reckon I’ll be takin’ anything with me and financially I might not be leavin’ much behind either. My son said it best when he told me, “Dad you never had much money to give me but you gave me something better. You taught me how to work and how to get along with people.”
I reckon I might be leavin’ a little somethin’ behind after all.

Thank you. I come up with a good one every once in a while.

I saw a report on a Current Affair show that had all these middle aged adults whining that their parents are spending their inheritance. My 1st thought was “How greedy & self centred they are” (The children not the parents). Parents work hard all their lives & if they wanna spend up to enjoy their retirement then I say go for it. I told my parents “Don’t worry about keeping your money to leave to us kids. It’s your hard earned money, you use it for what you want”
Your Son summed up my feelings too. No amount of money is worth more than the love & care a parent gives their children.

My dad was telling me about his will. I told him if he would enjoy what he had now he wouldn’t need a will. I think he listened. I hope so.

There’s definitely a lot more important things to leave behind than money.
February 21, 2013 at 9:10 pm |
Yep. That is why I am always dispensin’ all this humor and corny wisdom.
February 22, 2013 at 4:58 pm
I hope you don’t use it all up!
February 22, 2013 at 6:02 pm
Me too. I would have to keep my mouth shut then.

I worry that all I will leave behind is bitterness.
February 22, 2013 at 7:08 am |
It would be nice if you would use it up before you go.
February 22, 2013 at 8:43 am
I probably won’t, but I will do my best to try.

Maybe we can offsett some of your bitterness by adding a little sweetness, after all, Lemonaide and Limeaide are pretty good.
February 22, 2013 at 9:38 am
I actually love the Cherry Limeade, so does that have any sweetness?
February 22, 2013 at 9:52 am
Yep. Lots of it.
February 22, 2013 at 11:12 am
Oh well….

Thanks Jande. It makes me feel good to come up with a new one after a drought.

Meh pushed the “post comment” button before I realised the wp has put a lot of junk in the name/email/website boxes. :`(
February 22, 2013 at 4:35 pm
I don’t know how to control all that.
February 25, 2013 at 8:13 am |
I hear you, Bo – I can think of a lot of things I’d rather be remembered for, too.
February 25, 2013 at 10:44 am |
And if we are not remembered at least we won’t be remembered in a bad way.

Bo you can take it with you. But the Angles would get mad. Because they have enough pavement.
March 22, 2013 at 4:27 pm |
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ll run out of money long before I run out of life!!
March 22, 2013 at 4:29 pm |
I ran out a long time ago and I’m still livin’.
